Boutique labels can start strong and fade fast. Big Chief Cigar Company sticks with the established names, and few fit that description better than Padrón. The Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series and the 1926 Serie are a big reason people keep coming back to the humidor.

Padrón is a family cigar maker founded in 1964 by José Orlando Padrón, and it has built its reputation on quality that doesn’t rely on hype. When you light a Padrón, you are smoking tobacco the maker aged for years before it was ever rolled. That is not about chasing the next trend. It is about returning to a ritual that asks you to sit down, slow your breath and appreciate what is in your hand.

So what sets these two lines apart?

The 1964 Anniversary Series. Padrón introduced it in 1994 to mark the company’s 30th anniversary. It is a box-pressed cigar made with tobacco aged four years, and it comes in sun-grown natural and maduro wrappers. It has been a staple of the Padrón lineup ever since.

The 1926 Serie. Padrón premiered it in 2002 to commemorate José O. Padrón’s 75th birthday. It is box-pressed too, made with tobacco aged five years, and Padrón describes the flavor as smooth, complex, balanced and full-bodied.

Big Chief carries both lines. We don’t sell cigars online, and the best way to understand a cigar is to try it in person. Come in, see what is on the shelves today, and ask the counter about the 1964 or the 1926. If you want to compare the two, the staff can walk you through the differences.

Big Chief is a locally owned shop in downtown Seguin, and the goal is simple: a room where you can slow down. Whether you have smoked for years or you are just curious what makes these lines special, the answer is best found in conversation, not in a catalog.
